Chrysler Gets SIRIUS

Yes! This is serious news! Let me tell you some details about it. Just a few days ago, I was planning to buy a Chrysler car after I get rid of the old one, my Isuzu Amigo radiator and some auto parts that I don’t need anymore. I searched on the internet to check out the Chrysler models and at the same time, browse some news on the Autochannel.com. I was surprised by one of the articles that said Chrysler will add the SIRIUS satellite radio as a standard feature on its 2008 models. Upon reading the news, I felt the excitement which made me more eager to buy a 2008 Chrysler model!

Having a SIRIUS satellite radio in your car makes a lot of difference from any other driving experience with other vehicles. The SIRIUS satellite is known as “The Best Radio On Radio” that provides more than 130 channels of the greatest programming in all of the world of radio! Speaking of uniqueness, SIRIUS is the original and the only venue of 100 percent no commercial music channels in satellite radio! It provides 69 music channels and it also brings 65 channels of sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, weather and data. And there’s more - SIRIUS also delivers with 65 SIRIUS as the Official Satellite Radio Partner of the NFL, NASCAR and NBA, and broadcasts live play-by-play games of the NFL and NBA, as well as live NASCAR races. Wow! What could you ask for? It’s all here!

“We are excited about the growth of SIRIUS with Chrysler Group and its customers,” said Mel Karmazin, the CEO of SIRIUS. “We are very proud that SIRIUS is featured in high volume in Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, and we look forward to continued mutual success with our partners at Chrysler Group.”

More than 70 percent of 2008 Chrysler models is expected to have the SIRIUS satellite radio which marks an increase compared to last year’s 40 percent. The satellite radio will be featured in most of mid-level price and premium classes on Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. In addition to this awesome offer, SIRIUS will be a 100% standard feature on the Chrysler Sebring and Aspen, the all-new Dodge Challenger and Nitro, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander. I bet everyone’s excited to own a 2008 Chrysler model soon!

“SIRIUS Satellite Radio is an entertainment feature our customers clearly enjoy and are demanding more and more,” said Christine MacKenzie, the Executive Director — Multi-brand Marketing and Agency Relations, Chrysler Group. “We are pleased to enhance our customers’ driving and ownership experience by offering SIRIUS entertainment and technology throughout the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicle portfolio.”

General Motors-iPod Connection

With the popularity of that little media player called the iPod continually increasing, it is not a surprise that it should invade other industries. I’ve read somewhere that these gadgets are being used as teaching tools. How cool it must be to have an iPod for ‘studying’? Then, there’s that news that it will possibly replace that thing they call a black box but is actually colored with screaming neon orange on airplanes.

Then there is the General Motors-iPod connection. It seems that the Detroit automaker has jumped into the iPod bandwagon and is now offering General Motors-branded vehicles with instant iPod connectivity. The carmaker said that the integration of iPod features in select vehicles will be made possible by the ‘Personal Audio Link’ iPod ® adapter. The device will connect any iPod to the car audio system of select General Motors vehicles.

According to the car manufacturer, the Chevrolet HHR, Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Pontiac Solstice, and the Saturn Sky will be available with the iPod connectivity feature. The ‘Personal Audio Link’ is actually invisible to the consumer once installed. The guys from Saturn, Pontiac, and Chevy dealerships are privy to where these are placed. If you really are curious, you can buy a car and ask the technician where these are hidden.

What this means is that you can bring your iPod to your car’s audio system, not that you can’t do it before the arrival of this ‘Personal Audio Link’. What this General Motors initiative brings to the table though is that you would no longer buy a transmitter for your iPod, you just have to buy a car from General Motors. But wait, wouldn’t that cost more? Of course it does, but if you are someone looking for a new vehicle and is also planning to buy a transmitter for your iPod, then the ‘Personal Audio Link’ from General Motors is recommended. Very much recommended.

According to the auto manufacturer, aside from the prize of the vehicle, you would add an extra $159 for the ‘Personal Audio Link’. Plus, you would have to pay for the installation. In the end, after spending wads of cash on the new vehicle and the iPod connectivity, the joy that one derives from listening to his or her favorite songs is reward enough. If you can spend some more, how about upgrading your car audio system? Although the system that comes with General Motors vehicles are pretty good, I bet there are more car audio systems better than what comes with the vehicle. After all, you want to enjoy your choice of music, and with a high end car audio system, you can surely enjoy that iPod connectivity more.

PARROT on Party Speaker and Car Kit

One of my blog entries here before featured the Parrot PMK5800 and to give you more details, I choose this topic once more for my latest blog rather than to write something about the Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket and the Mercedes Benz tail light.

Parrot, a well-known boss in wireless peripherals, broadcasted recently the debut of its two newest products in U.S. The first one is the Parrot PMK5800 and the other one is the Parrot PARTY.

Both offer the convenience for you to be able to play music stream from a Bluetooth A2DP-enabled mobile phone or from an MP3 player for absolute wireless freedom.

Parrot’s Car Kit - MSRP of $129.99
While driving you can enjoy your most wanted songs inside your car and have fun with your car’s sound system with the latest Parrot PMK5800.

It’s a total hands-free plug-and-play music stuff. It can be hooked on every car with a 12-volt accessory opening and it makes use of no cost FM radio frequency to transmit equally the music and voice directly to your vehicle speakers.

The top secret of the stereo car kit is its implanted FM emitter. So just pick a free radio rate on your vehicle stereo, then go with it to the one shown on the screen, and benefit from comprehensible and full-duplex chit chats straight on your vehicle speakers through your vehicle radio. As I’ve said before, you can still answer an incoming call by pressing the FM preset.

Here’s the other one, I suggest having it with you as you drive to enjoy more of music.

Small but Terrible Parrot PARTY Speaker - $169.99
Parrot’s latest stereo creation called the Parrot PARTY is light and packed in a portable mobile wireless stereo speaker. It only weighs about 21 ounces and this already includes its battery which is rechargeable for 4 hours. It’s nine inches in length, and can be placed into a backpack. You can have it placed as well even on a purse or attaché case for a trouble-free driving.

With this one you will be able to enjoy 2 both worlds - a pleasant and comfortable trip with your friends and at the same time get pleasure from your much loved tracks from the cable-free party speaker. Despite of its small size, the Parrot PARTY sets a commanding sound by way of a 2×6-watt as its utmost output Class D-amplifier plus the two wide-band speakers. It makes the most of two proprietary technologies to be able to boost sound superiority.

These two technologies are the Stereo Widening, designed for room-filling stereophony and the other one is the Virtual Super Bass. The latter is the one that facilitate in escalating the bass reaction to sense the punch of the beat of music. In case the source device does not hold up the Bluetooth A2DP profile, worry no more because you can still amuse yourself with the music wirelessly. Just try to use the Bluetooth 2.0 USB Parrot dongle or try the audio dongle.

Both will be accessible in U.S. in the third quarter through dealers and also online at http://www.parrotshopping.com.
