General Motors-iPod Connection

With the popularity of that little media player called the iPod continually increasing, it is not a surprise that it should invade other industries. I’ve read somewhere that these gadgets are being used as teaching tools. How cool it must be to have an iPod for ‘studying’? Then, there’s that news that it will possibly replace that thing they call a black box but is actually colored with screaming neon orange on airplanes.

Then there is the General Motors-iPod connection. It seems that the Detroit automaker has jumped into the iPod bandwagon and is now offering General Motors-branded vehicles with instant iPod connectivity. The carmaker said that the integration of iPod features in select vehicles will be made possible by the ‘Personal Audio Link’ iPod ® adapter. The device will connect any iPod to the car audio system of select General Motors vehicles.

According to the car manufacturer, the Chevrolet HHR, Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Pontiac Solstice, and the Saturn Sky will be available with the iPod connectivity feature. The ‘Personal Audio Link’ is actually invisible to the consumer once installed. The guys from Saturn, Pontiac, and Chevy dealerships are privy to where these are placed. If you really are curious, you can buy a car and ask the technician where these are hidden.

What this means is that you can bring your iPod to your car’s audio system, not that you can’t do it before the arrival of this ‘Personal Audio Link’. What this General Motors initiative brings to the table though is that you would no longer buy a transmitter for your iPod, you just have to buy a car from General Motors. But wait, wouldn’t that cost more? Of course it does, but if you are someone looking for a new vehicle and is also planning to buy a transmitter for your iPod, then the ‘Personal Audio Link’ from General Motors is recommended. Very much recommended.

According to the auto manufacturer, aside from the prize of the vehicle, you would add an extra $159 for the ‘Personal Audio Link’. Plus, you would have to pay for the installation. In the end, after spending wads of cash on the new vehicle and the iPod connectivity, the joy that one derives from listening to his or her favorite songs is reward enough. If you can spend some more, how about upgrading your car audio system? Although the system that comes with General Motors vehicles are pretty good, I bet there are more car audio systems better than what comes with the vehicle. After all, you want to enjoy your choice of music, and with a high end car audio system, you can surely enjoy that iPod connectivity more.
