New Car Audio System For Ford From Microsoft

The world of car audio has always been based around what comes with your car when you buy it. There are those that offer an auxiliary jack for this and that device, the ‘this and that’, by the way, is mostly iPods. BMW and Volkswagen are already offering input jacks so that iPod toting individuals can enjoy their music on their cars. Some car brands like the Land Rover, on the other hand, are partnering with satellite radio providers to provide their consumers with the “best radio on radio”. For Ford, on the other hand, they are working with the software giant Microsoft and has developed a device which is expected to change the landscape of the car audio industry.

The car audio system is anchored on a portable audio device which allows a car stereo to be synched with the device. This will give car owners a better choice of music. Let us give the experts the floor and let them explain what this new car audio device is all about:

According to crunchgear.com this car audio device is: “A car stereo including a docking station into which an off-the-shelf handheld computer can be docked, and including an input/output (I/O) component allowing the car stereo to communicate with the handheld computer when the handheld computer is docked in the docking station, the car stereo indicating to the handheld computer, when the handheld computer is docked in the docking station, which one of a plurality of different appliance types the car stereo is.”

With that said, it is safe to say that this new advancement in car audio will allow Ford car and truck owners to complement their vehicles with aftermarket parts such as Accel parts and this new entertainment system. By the way, Ford calls this portable car audio system the “Sync” and will be available with future versions of the Ford Focus, Fusion, Five Hundred, Edge, Freestyle, Explorer and the Sport Trac; the Mercury Milan, Montego and the Mountaineer; and the Lincoln MKX and the MKZ. These vehicles will not only be equipped with the Sync but can also be modified with the use of aftermarket parts like the Weapon R cold air intake system.

Panasonic Mobile DVD Player

I just bought a brand new Mazda M3 three weeks ago. It was the happiest day of my life, because it is my first ever brand new car since I was driving my dad’s car which is the Nissan Sentra Series 3. I’ve studied all Mazda parts and I’ve gotten so fascinated upon knowing that this model has the features that I want from a car. But there’s something I want to add - something that will make my car look so awesome.

I’m planning to install a DVD player on it and I want to inquire about the cool car gadgets that are available today.

So I searched thru the net and inquired about these stuff. And finally, Panasonic gave me the answer! It’s the Panasonic Mobile DVD player! I checked its features and specs. I think it’s cool! If ever you’re looking for something like this for your car, here are the features and specification of this awesome gadget! And hopefully you’ll end up purchasing one of this, like what I am planning to do!

Features and specs of the Panasonic Mobile DVD player (courtesy of Panasonic):

*5ch High Power Amp: Helps to achieve the accurate sound reproduction of DVDs with minimum distortion. The TV/DVD-video/Receiver has 45W x 4 power amp circuitry and a 35W center-speaker power amp for a total of 5 discrete channels. A full surround effect can be obtained by simply adding a subwoofer and external power amp.

*Dolby Digital & DTS Decoders: Deliver built-in 5.1 channel theater quality surround sound to your car. A Pro Logic circuit is also included, to play older surround discs that aren’t Dolby Digital or DTS compatible.

*Fold Out 7″ (diagonal) In-dash Monitor: This high-quality LCD video monitor gives you centralized, on-screen control over all of your car’s AV sources on a single DIN size monitor

*7″ (diagonal) 16:9 Wide Screen Format: High definition (336,960 pixels) brings high quality DVD images into your car. An internal backlight and non-glare surface enhance viewing comfort, while improved Y/C and RGB circuitry shows fine map details and displays text to help you get to where you’re going.

*MOS-FET Output Stage: Uses voltage control to achieve an outstanding high frequency response, resulting in a dynamic range of audio. It also keeps the driver stage electronically isolated from the output stage, enabling the use of a relatively simple circuit configuration to achieve high sound quality.

*7-Band Graphic Equalizer: Lets you customize the perfect sound by adjusting EQ sliders on the LCD screen. Up to six EQ settings can be saved in memory.

*Plays CDs and CD-R/RWs: The monitor can also be used as a basic stereo to play standard audio CDs, and CD-R/RWs that you create at home. CD-Rs can also be used to display directions on the LCD screen.

*MP3 Playback: You can also listen to CDs encoded with MP3s, for up to 10 times more music on a single CD than with a standard disc.

*Improved Graphical User Interface: Our brand new GUI displays on-screen information with clear, color graphics and text. This easy-to-read format guides you through setup and operation.

*TV Tuner: Brings live TV programs to your car from a specially designed antenna which assures optimum reception in a wide range of locations. The set features seek-tuning and an 18-channel auto preset for easy navigation.

*AM/FM Tuner: Features 12 FM and 12 AM station presets and the innovative Alphatuner V technology to help expand your listening choices.

*Video Capture: Stores up to three images from video signal sources (TV, video, digital camera, etc…) to use as a background for your LCD screen while using only the audio.

*Rear-View Camera: An optional compact video camera can be connected to the VTR so you can see what’s behind you when backing up.

*Full-Function Remote: Passengers can easily control DVD Video, TV tuner, Radio, CD, MP3 and CD Changer operations with a single wireless remote unit.

*Sleek, Jet Black Finish: Add style and elegance to the world of mobile entertainment.

*Private Mode: Allows passengers in the front to enjoy one audio program, while those in back enjoy another. In this mode the main audio program (radio, CD etc…) is channeled to the front speakers, and the rear passengers’ program is played on wireless headphones, so each group can listen to what they want to without distraction.

*Single Wire Connection: One cable links the hideaway (backseat) unit to the main unit, enabling the video, audio and control lines to be bundled together.

*Ready for Future Expansion: By using the two VTR inputs and one output on the hideaway unit, a rear-seat monitor, in-car VCR and a rear-view camera can be added. For audio, hook up a CD changer, and with 6 preouts the system can be upgraded for a higher power output. An RGB input is also included for connection to a planned car navigation system
